The Raghavan Committee has reviewed the progress in the implementation of its proposals to ensure ragging free campus atmosphere. The Supreme Court appointed committee held a meeting on Friday in New Delhi to take stock of the situation on the ragging front.
After reviewing the steps the regulatory bodies had taken to prevent recurrence of the incidence of ragging, chairman of the Committee Dr. RK Raghavan advised them to bring their measures into the public domain.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is on its course to decide on the steps to be taken to curb the incidence of ragging in the institutions of higher education.
Among the actions the AICTE is considering against institutions for failure to stop the menace of ragging on their campuses is discontinuation of funds and revoking or withholding of approval to the admissions for the current academic year. An AICTE panel is assigned the task of monitoring the institution’s steps to ensure ragging free campuses.
The University Grants Commission on its part has given approval to `UGC regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions 2009’. The UGC will soon notify the anti-ragging rules, informed the Council’s representatives.
