The Common Admission Test is considered one of the most difficult competitive examinations in the country. CAT scores are used to get admission in the most prestigious management schools. As per an assessment of the prospectus of CAT for the year 2008 and 2009, this year nearly fifty more institutes have been added to the list of colleges which will take into account the CAT scores for short listing the students for admission.

With the increase in the number of colleges using CAT scores as criterion for admission, the opportunities for the MBA aspirants has increased this year. There are about 151 non IIM institutes, apart from the seven IIMs which will use the score this year. Out of a total of 151 colleges, about 49 are new. The number of colleges using the CAT scores is increasing every year.

Most of the elite management schools in the country use the CAT scores to shortlist students for the group discussion and interview. The leading colleges apart from the IIMs that use these scores are Management Development Institute, Gurgaon, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad and  S P Jain Institute, Mumbai and many more across the country.

Many MBA schools like United World School of Business, Institute of Management Studies, Dehradun and many others have been added to the list of colleges accepting the CAT scores this year. Though there are many new entrants, many colleges have also dropped out also from the list like Department of Business Administration, Lucknow, National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai etc.

With many institutes joining the list and the leading institutes already a part of it, the opportunities for MBA aspirants has increased. They need to concentrate on one exam and the door to the best opportunities opens for them.
