Following a MoU being signed between the Indian School of Business (ISB) and the Richard Ivey School of Business (Ivey), The University of Western Ontario, the ISB has announced its plans of setting up a Centre for Case Development (CCD), at the college premises. The MoU was signed by Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB and Carol Stephenson, Dean, Ivey.

The main reason behind setting up the CCD at the ISB is the aim of the authorities to enhance the case writing capabilities of participants and to later circulate these cases world over for study.

The centre will cater to management academicians from different management schools across India. It will train, support and guide them through the whole process of case development, which will include every stage of case study, from idea generation to global publication of the case studies.

ISB Dean Rangnekar, said:

“Indian companies have, in this past decade, developed new business models that have the potential to be replicated in other parts of the world but there is a significant shortage of case studies to understand these best practices. With its academic and industry affiliations, the MBA School will support and mentor faculty from other B Schools in India, to create a knowledge repository of case studies for India and the world.”

Ivey enjoys being the second largest producer of case studies world over and the largest producer of Asian cases world over. Using its experience and global methodologies, together with the indigenous learning and knowledge bank, the CCD will produce world class studies.

Signing the MoU, Dean Stephenson, said:

“We are proud to be partnering with ISB in an ambitious case development and training programme which will transform the educational environment in India. In so doing, Ivey will also be able to bolster its own capabilities in managing in emerging markets.”

The association with Ivey will enable the Indian B-School circuit to develop their own research and then train students and faculty to handle case studies from an Indian perspective and present them to the world for study.

The Centre despite working on developing case studies on corporate planning bodies, NGOs, SMEs and sports organisations presently is also holding workshops on case writing and presentation for some of the management faculty members.

Other than Ivey, the Centre is also teaming up with some international management schools as well, like Darden, University of Virginia. The centre targets to build a reservoir of 350 case writing faculty and researchers in India, by the end of the next academic session.
