Two memorandums of understandings on higher education were signed between India and France during French President’s visit to India. The two side also decided to take forward 2009 Plan of Action for IIT-Rajasthan by setting up a french consortium to help the institute gain expertise in various fields.
HRD minister Kapil Sibal and French education minister Valerie Pecresse signed the MoUs on behalf of their countries. The first MoU proposes to set up an International Joint Laboratory Indo-French Cell for Water Sciences (IFCWS) to be developed jointly by Institut De Recherche Pour Le Development of France and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The second MoU is on collaboration between seven IITs and Paris Tech- Paris Institute of Science and Technology with aims to do student exchange, organizing conferences etc., Short courses, joint research and developments in teachings.
