Four IIT-Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) students have volunteered to couch joint entrance examination (JEE) aspirants. The IITians will train hundreds of the contenders for the coveted IIT seats in group discussion and personal interview after they clear the written test.

Manish Shankar, Nishant Shah, Lokesh Verma and Rajiv Agarwal are IIT-KGP alumni who raised a sum of around Rs lakh to fund their cause and founded ‘Edudigm’.

Rajiv Agarwal said, “Most aspirants are currently spending anything between Rs 1-2 lakhs in class 11-12 at various coaching centres. We intend to completely de-commercialize this sector, because we believe spending so much money on coaching centres, who do not even guarantee jobs, is necessary.”

DAV and Hemsheela Model School both based in Durgapur have joined with the IITians in their noble cause. They are now negotiating with other institutes for cooperation.

The mentorship programme cost a student just Rs 7,000 per annum. The students can keep in touch with the mentors through phone, emails. And if need be they can meet them in person at any of the institutes having tie-up with the group.
