The Indian Institute of Managements (IIM) has declared that the results of CAT 2009-2010 exam will be deferred to the end of February this year. Earlier, results of the entrance exam were scheduled to be announced by the third week of this month.
This was the first year when CAT exam were conducted online.
The exam was scheduled between November 28 and December 7 which was then extended by one day i.e. December 8. Later, the IIMs had to conduct re-test on January 30 and 31 for about 11,000 students who could not appear for the test on original schedule due to technical problems at many centres across the country.
In all 2,41,528 candidates registered for this year’s CAT exam. During first schedule i.e. between November 28 and December 7, about 2.16 lakh students appeared for the test. Remaining candidates completed the test during re-test.
IIM, Ahmadabad which is coordinating this year’s CAT exam has not given any reason for the delay but they assured that all efforts were being made to complete the task at the earliest.
Names of the candidates who are short listed for the interview will be announced on the CAT website and IIM will also send interview letters to the selected candidates.
CAT is a common aptitude test conducted by IIMs for admission to various management programmes. Many other management institutes also use the CAT scores for their admissions.
