Delhi launches mobile learning centers for slum kids

In a very admirable move towards educating and encouraging poor children to study, the Delhi government has launched mobile learning centers under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan project aimed at underprivileged children and school dropouts. These mobile learning centers would be busses equipped with LCD TVs, teaching kids and cabinets.

The children, who mainly come from slums and work as ragpickers, can now head to these busses to study and even watch children’s movies during ‘class hours’. The main objective of this initiative is to prepare the children for regular schools and encourage school dropouts to go back to schools. The addition of the ‘fun’ element in the form of superhero movies and cartoons is to entice the kids to flock these mobile centers.

These mobile study centers will make regular visits the areas where there are high numbers of such kids so that the kids don’t have to travel too far to get education.
