Center reserves 25% seats for women in ITIs

The central government, taking a leaf from the experience of Haryana, has promised to give 25% reservation for women in all the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country.

Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda said, "We have had a written communication from the central government. The government has appreciated our decision to reserve 25 % of the seats for women in ITIs to guarantee their empowerment."

The scheme was introduced when Haryana was celebrating the day as the year of the girl child in 2006.

The scheme will now be executed in the entire country, but with 30% of seats reservation. Taking a cue, the Haryana government is also expected to enhance the bulk of the reservation in this category making it to 30% from the earlier%.
