In the first ever conference of its kind, the All India Organization of Imams of Mosques, saw unanimity in the opinion that modern education was the only means to bring about the much required social change among Muslims in India. Citing it as a tool for upliftment of the community, the organization which represents over half a million imams will soon come up with a charter of demands to present to the HRD minister Kapil Sibal.

Striking a clear note of contradiction both with the Delhi School Education Act 1973 and with the city parents' association’s stand on the issue, Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said that the right to fix the salaries of its teaching staff rested solely with the private institution managements and not with the government.

The Right to Education Act, 2009 can finally see the light of the day with HRD minister Kapil Sibal giving a go-ahead to implementation of the new law by signing the document of notification on February 12. The move has ended six months of speculation. Come April 1, education for all will become a reality as the Act will be by enforced by the central governemnt.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is seriously thinking about getting the Bhagvad Gita introduced in schools as a part of the school curriculum. The CM came to the conclusion after having discussed the matter with Swami Arganad.

Contemplating to introduce the Gita as part of the moral science syllabus, Chauhan feels that ‘Any good thing that can be there in any human being is written in the Bhagwad Gita’.

The Supreme Court on March 9 asked explanation from the Delhi Government for remaining inactive in education sector for years and hence violating children’s fundamental right to education. Many government schools in Delhi do not have adequate teaching staff and till date no action had been taken by the Delhi government.

According to a new report on education sector nearly 20 percent, i.e. one-fifth of the private colleges in Australia are actually ‘visa factories’. Former MP Bruce Baird who had submitted the report has revealed that it is the fact that 20 percent private colleges are 'permanent residency factories' in Australia and these institutes have affected the education industry very badly.

Board of Intermediate Education of Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP) has warned students from Class XI and XII not to write any slogans supporting or opposing Telengana state on their answer sheets. The board has also clarified that those students who will write slogans like ‘Jai Telangana’ and ‘Samaikhya Andhra’ on their exam paper would be treated as fail and will also get charged for malpractices during examination.

A recent survey by the Higher Education Forum (HEF) has brought to fore the vast difference that has started to show between employer expectations and fresh MBA graduates’ on the job skills.

The ‘Skill Gap Survey’ as HEF terms it, was conducted to find out through systematic evaluation wether any gaps exist between employer expectations and skills displayed by newly hired MBAs.

Owing to lack of sufficient number of government schools in the state the Ministry of Human resource and Development has decided to alter its Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scheme, for universalisation of secondary education in Bengal. Instead of funding all government aided schools which are less than five percent in the state the MHRD will now select and fund some privately run, government aided schools.
