ABOUT THE EVENT:
The first-of-its-kind exclusive students’ conference and the special section on photography are sure to pull crowds at the fourth edition of the Vasundhara International Film Festival, to be held from February 14 to 21 at the Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium in Pune. The conference titled as ‘Young Change Makers' would provide a strong platform for students to voice themselves on the burning issue of climate change.

Meant to engrave the golden concept of preservation and protection, the festival makes the inevitable appeal to save the earth from generation next.

The festival aims at bringing about attitudinal change in the young minds through films, workshops, exhibitions and interactive sessions on ecology-related issues. The organisers plan to take the message to a much more personal and community level as well.

The students’ conference is sure to witness many vital recommendations from children on sustainable lifestyle. Parag Mankeekar, who has conceptualised this conference for the festival, said that the novel concept would go a long way in exploring nature and ecology and would also enable the students to come up with constructive ways of solving problems related to the environment, wildlife, energy, air and water.

Students from English and Marathi schools studying in Class VII, VIII and IX have been asked to explore their surroundings and analyse topical issues that are related to climate change. All the participants would be given space to express their genuine ideas and constructive thoughts on avoiding unnecessary wastage of natural resources.

The conference would also help them in short listing young talents who could make it at the bigger event that would be held in Mexico later this year.

At the conference, the participants would also be allowed to interact with delegates through Knowledge Mela. With the help of innovative presentation techniques, they would be enabled to present their unique recommendations before the eminent panel of delegates.

At the second level, video showcasing would also be facilitated under which both the participants and delegates can view each other through compiled video documentation on all projects.

In association with India art gallery, a unique photography exhibition based on Mother Nature would also be organized as part of the festival. Amateur and professionals photographers, NGOs, clubs and other organisations would all be allowed to submit their applications on varied themes such as ‘Tiger Through My Lenses', ‘Rare Wildlife', ‘Save Vasundhara' and ‘Small But Sweet.'

The diverse jury would short-list the entries and the selected photographs would then be exhibited at the main venue throughout the duration of the festival.
