The Hyderabad based Osmania University has postponed its Post Graduate examminations scheduled to begin on February 22 and 23. This is the sixth time in two months that the university had to defer the exams on account of the ongoing Telengana stir.
Taking into account, the capricious nature of the ongoing Telangana agitation, the Osmania University management has informed that it has cancelled all the examinations that were to be conducted by the university and its constituent colleges. The cancelled exams would be conducted at later date.
Andhra Pradesh is facing the heat of Telangana row in a big way. Alongside many other facets, education is suffering enormously in the state. With the constant uncertainty over the issue of a separate statehood, students have become the victims of the political mess. Among many glum situations for students, the case of Osmania University is hogging the limelight for all the wrong reasons.
With Tuesday’s all-party meeting on the ongoing Telangana issue round the corner, lakhs of students gathered at the Osmania University campus on Sunday evening to proclaim it loud that they would not tolerate any going back on the separate statehood promise.
Having extended its support to the students’ joint action committee at Osmania University, the all-party Telangana joint action committee has decided to hold a march in Hyderabad as part of its pro-Telangana campaign. However, the state police have firmly banned the march as it involves a complete shutdown in the region on 30 December.
