Community Colleges

Community colleges are going to be more in numbers in the days to come. IGNOU has chalked out proper plans to add to the existing number of ‘community’ colleges in the country. The number of such colleges is set to increase more than three times to the present ones. From the existing 160 such colleges, 500 would be the precise number of community colleges across the country in next two years.

The announcement of the Community College Initiatives Programme has brought with it an opportunity for the students of Andhra Pradesh to study in one of the community colleges in the US and develop their personal skills.

The programme has been made possible due to the joint efforts of the United States Consulate General and the Department of States Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

 The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has embarked on an ambitious project to bring about a ‘learning revolution’ among disadvantaged students in the country. The university aims to achieve this goal through the 100 community colleges it has roped in.
