In a potentially contentious proposal to create the country’s first religion-based school board, the demand of a separate board for all minority-run schools has been sent to the HRD minister Kapil Sibal. The latest demand has been suggested by Muslim MPs.
MPs don’t find it viable to have a board for mainstreaming madarsa education. They have conveyed to the minister the demand for a separate agency to affiliate minority schools and provide them financial support.
Hoping to break the deadlock over much delayed central board for madarsa education, Human Resources Development minister Kapil Sibal will meet the Members of Parliament (MPs) today.
HRD Minister Kapil Sibal was all smiles, as quite a few of his education reforms got a ‘go-ahead’ sign form the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE), today. Implementation of the grading system in all CBSE schools and the much contentious proposal of having an independent policy making body for higher education were a couple of them.
Moving in leaps and bounds the HRD minister Kapil Sibal is fast covering all points highlighted in his 100 day agenda. Next target on his ‘to-do’ list is the centralisation of all madarsas through the setup of a Central Madarsa Board (CMB). Not lagging behind will also be the agenda of broader reforms, which he intends to broach soon.
