Delhi University (DU) has decided to provide Other Backward Classes students with an 18% reservation from the next academic session.
The Pondicherry University, from the next academic year, has plans to offer two new courses comprising M.Sc in Food Technology and M.A. The decision was taken at the recently held meeting at the campus.
In order to make arrangements for the stay of relatives of sportspersons coming for Commonwealth Games some of the Delhi University colleges have asked students to vacate their hostel rooms for three months. The colleges have also decided to waive off the hostel fees for these three months.

With the completion of almost 60 to 80 percent renovation work of the hostels of Delhi University, the authorities are confident that they would be able to hand it over to the organizing committee of the Commonwealth Games 2010 by August 31.

Along with strict enforcement and policemen’s presence, the college authorities played in the mind of the senior students so that no ragging takes place on the first day of freshers in the new academic year in Delhi University. To keep a strict check on the students, 400 police officials supported with anti-ragging squads and student volunteers, were positioned in North Campus accompanied with deployment of 200 in south Delhi colleges.
In what might come as a ray of hope for many Delhi University aspirants, colleges under the varsity have asked for fresh applications from students for filling up 1000 vacant seats in the OBC category, which will be up for conversion.
Delhi University, which is considered the top university in India, began its admission process on June 23. The first day saw a massive rush of students trying their best to grab a seat in a course of their choice. As a result of the huge number of students, many colleges had to continue with admissions till 5 pm as against pre-decided 1 pm.
