DTE stalls engineering, MBA, MCA admissions in Maharastra indefinitely

Students eyeing the engineering, MBA, MCA and pharmacy courses in Mumbai and the rest of the state will have to let their patience be tested a bit longer before they get admission to the desired courses of their choice this year. This is because the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has decided to show the red signal to admission proceedings in Maharashtra for some more time.

Students launch UPTU college ranking list on basis of placement

To provide clean and complete information regarding UP’s engineering colleges, eight engineering students joined hands to launch an online project – edgenroots.com.  These students have worked tip to toe for presenting the ranking list of almost 500 colleges under UPTU according to their placements, which is the main attention-grabbing part of this website.

West Bengal University to re-evaluate examination system

Once again question has arisen if the private educational institutes are showing better results than government- run institutes. In a surprising find, data collected by the West Bengal University revealed that the students from private engineering colleges are scoring higher marks than students from the university and hence West Bengal University has decided to find out if there is any requirement of change in their examination system.

DTU senior students write their final exams while juniors protest

The Delhi Technological University students who were leading the protests so far against the upgradation of Delhi collage of Engineering into Delhi Technological University (DTU) wrote their final year examinations alleged to save the job offers. However, seniors were also asking their juniors to boycott exams with them to protest against the move by the authorities.

UPTU forms to be available from Feb 20

The application form for appearing in the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) entrance examinations will be available for sale in cash from February 20, 2010 to March 12, 2010 (both days inclusive).  The cost of the form for General/OBC category will be Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 for SC/ST and female candidates of all categories. The forms can be bought from all Head Post Offices and Mukhya Dak Ghars of UP, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehra Dun, Delhi, Jaipur and Nainital.

UPTU Entrance: State govt rejects proposal for new norms By Staff Reporter

The Uttar Pradesh government has rejected the new UPTU entrance exams proposal that sought implementation of new norms for eligibility of candidates as well as the examination marking process. The old norms would continue where there would be no negative marking on wrong answers and it would not be compulsory for candidates to acquire 60 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in their school passing (intermediate) exams.

West Bengal University of Technology plans to make colleges autonomous

The West Bengal University of Technology has decided to grant autonomy to deserving colleges affiliated to it. The varsity has over 100 private engineering colleges under it and the step will enable these colleges to take independent decisions regarding syllabi, curriculum, infrastructure and expansion as well.

Professional education suffers in Punjab

Just a decade back Punjab had seen a tremendous influx of professional colleges, with a huge increase in the demand for professional courses like management, engineering, medicine, pharmacy and hotel management. However, over the years the demand for professional courses seems to have died down in the state. As more and more colleges have seats going empty even after repetitive counselling schedules, it sure has become a cause for concern.
