In a move that is bound to give a sigh of relief to thousands of parents whose wards have passed 2 years of age, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has given a green signal to enhance the age limit for nursery admission. In a statement, On February 15, Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal, advocated a proposal to raise the minimum age to four from the existing three years for admission to nursery classes in Delhi.
With the Capital's most schools coming out with their final lists of students on Monday, the heat is certainly mounting up for parents waiting for a good start of schooling for their kids. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued a notice to Mount Carmel School in Anand Niketan, New Delhi, for initiating admission process by putting its admission form on sale 15 days before schedule. The DoE had earlier given directions to all schools to issue their respective admission forms between December 15 and January 15. Hinting strict action against those who flout the set nursery admission rules, the DoE had also made it clear that any change of schedule would be allowed only within this particular period.
With the focus on education growing by the day in our country, even the pre-schoolers are not untouched. All government run schools in Gujarat are these days busy preparing for the upcoming exercise - Gunotsav 2009. A quality check campaign designed by the state government, the Gunotsav 2009 will be a 3-day exercise, conducted by over 3000 Gujarat bureaucrats, covering all the 32,600 government primary schools in the state. Beginning November 12, all these officials will visit these schools and collect data regarding the education quality imparted by them.
