    Keeping in mind the need to upgrade school education, the Union Budget for 2010-11 presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukharjee has proposed 30 percent increase in the allocation for primary and higher secondary education, while reduced the budgetary share for higher education. Even institutes like IITs and IIMs run by the government for the upcoming financial year are affected by budget cut for higher education.

    When many major countries are increasingly spending highly on quality education even in the time of great recession, big economies like US and UK are making budget cuts in their higher education sectors. Many UK industrials and academic leaders fear that budget cuts in higher education may lead to many losses in the country as a result of losing the educational edge it currently holds against many developing countries.

    The Indian Institutes of Technology (popularly known as IITs) are institutions of national importance established through an Act of Parliament for fostering excellence in education. At a tender age of 16 in 1989, and at his debut match against Pakistan, Tendulkar has demonstrated his exceptional natural batting flair by hitting Abdul Kader’s balls out off the boundary repeatedly.
    Abdul Kader – the then world renowned spinner was stunned by his aggressive batting and most atrocious hitting. Kader then paid his tribute by describing Tendulkar as future great cricketer. Since then, he never looked back.

    CAT (Central Administrative Tribunal) has dismissed the petition filed by the suspended chairman of AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) RA Yadav. Yadav had filed the petition in the court against government regarding his suspension.

    The Indian Institute of Managements (IIM) has declared that the results of CAT 2009-2010 exam will be deferred to the end of February this year. Earlier, results of the entrance exam were scheduled to be announced by the third week of this month.

    With the Union budget out in the open, education seems to be a happy sector least to say. With an allocation of 1.38 trillion rupees and stocks surging high, the budget sure seems to have worked well for the education sector.
